Drawn Together: gross & fabulous

If you need a reason to drag yourself home early-ish from after-work drinks on Friday night, Drawn Together is it.  Check it out on Prime 10:30pm Fridays.

In the first animated reality show, eight characters from vastly different reaches of the cartoon universe agree to live in a house and have their lives taped. From a washed-up movie reel heartthrob to a homicidal Japanese trading card character, these housemates have nothing in common but a love of drinking and hot tub make-outs. Will the housemates rise above their many differences and come together as a family? No — but it’s fun to watch them sort-of try!

The adult cartoon satirises stereotypes and parodies known films and television shows – the characters themselves are parodies of well-known cartoons.  They are drawn together on a reality TV show, similar to Big Brother and The Real World, but say and do crazier stuff than any human ever could.  Drawn Together is hilarious and well worth the early exit from the pub.

Click here to read some of the choicer quotes, there’s some in-yer-face, controversial, un-PC stuff.  Gotta love that.

Hot necklace keeps you cool

This necklace has a real working thermometer in a glass case, hung on a sterling silver bead chain.

Accurate from -140 F to +120 F. Your readings will go up and down depending on the weather! Your friends will definitely notice you in these babies. Classy modern design and such a cool idea!

Our love is like a ship on the ocean

Loving the Hues Corporation tune, but the video makes me seasick.

Doll Head Ornaments

When your child got ugly and angry last week, then tore Barbie’s head from her body, that wasn’t a tantrum.  Nooo, that was art.  Your kid is creative, now hurry and set up a website selling the doll’s heads as arty ornaments.  Oops, too late.

Strange Moon artist Stephanie Alice Rogers makes one of a kind art dolls, ornaments and figurative sculptures.  Each piece is unique and hand-crafted from “clay, paint, wood, fabric, wool, human hair and found objects” and have a “dark and surreal disposition”.

Lita recommends you avoid your child using human hair.

Random Act of Kindness Day

National Random Act of Kindness Day is this Saturday, Father’s Day.  But, if being good to your Pa is a push, what about being randomly kind to a stranger?

In an ever changing world, where life is faster, families are busier, people are lonelier… there’s a new opportunity to look beyond one’s self, for no personal gain other than the fantastic sense of making someone else’s life brighter!

National R.A.K. Day, is that opportunity! A day where you do some Random Act of Kindness for someone else. It could be a family member, flat mate, school friend, neighbour or a perfect stranger passing you in the street.

On September 1st we want to take the focus off our own lives and look for opportunities to do an act of kindness to others ~ maybe by mowing their lawn? Buying them a coffee? Flowers? Providing some needed service…. The ideas are endless.

Is it terribly cynical of Lita to notice the multiple RAK ideas that involve coffee, spot the Starbucks logo underneath the caffeine inspired suggestions and then sneer?  Kindness schmindness.

Lita suspects this guy pulled a fronty on purpose.

If you don’t see any nudity, look carefully at the mirror on the left of the pic, but don’t blame me.
